Rick started playing guitar at the age of 6 going on 7 in 1966. Inspired heavily by the Beatles he started learning all their songs. He got his first ?real? band going in 1973, Neurotic, a progressive hard rock band with jazzy overtones. Kind of Heavy Metal Jazz www.myspace.com/neurotic1973 . This band, with quite a few personnel changes, would last until 1985. Neurotic did have some vinyl releases. Rick then formed the Rick Ray Band (version I), this band lasted until 1989. A very heavy fusion band, one cassette album released. Rick then decided it was time to try and make things a little more accessable, as the Rick Ray Band (version I) was way too intense for mankind. In 1990 with Jack Ambrose and Greg Davidson, Rick formed ?Riot Act?. Greg soon left and John Cek came in on the drums and this band was ?on fire?. www.myspace.com/riotactband?. Riot Act stopped in 1996 and Rick went into the recording studio and stayed there for four years. Riot Act reunited to release the album Maniacal Disastrophe Tour and open for Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, but Riot Act was not to continue. Rick decided to get the Rick Ray Band going again in 2000 and has been going strong ever since. www.myspace.com/therickrayband?,?www.rickray.net?. The Rick Ray Band (version II) has opened for Robin Trower, The Dregs,?Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush (numerous times), Pat Travers, Kansas, The Steve Morse Band, Allan Holdsworth, The Mark Wood Band (members of Trans Siberian Orchestra) and more. Jack Ambrose (Bass) is still with Rick, Rick Schultz (Reeds) was with Rick in Neurotic, The Rick Ray Band (ver. I), and the tail end of Riot Act is in the R. Ray Band along w/Sam Glorioso (Drums) and Alex Abraham (Vocals). Rick has 28 albums under his belt on CD (all released from 1999 up to the present on his own label, Neurosis Records). The band will be opening for Gary Hoey 5/25/06 and Robin Trower 7/2/06 and is ?? way done with another album. The Rick Ray Band is also on the Tribute To Frank Marino album, Second Hand Smoke on Wild Mess Records www.wildmess.com doing the song Poppy.
