Wild T is a Smash in Europe
by Michele Bateman
Although it's very true that Tony Springer has been knockin' around the Canadian music scene for some time now, those days are getting fewer and farther between. You see, Europe is now in on the secret and is learning what you have known for years - that Tony Springer easily ranks as one of the very best guitar players on the planet!
Europe can't get enough of Wild T & The Spirit and the hunger is insatiable to the point that they are now touring there twice a year, picking up more countries and dates every time they go over. The spring 2005 tour of 5 weeks is now a 7 week long tour which begins on October 28th right through to December 17th. They storm into Belgium for 5 dates, Holland for 7 shows, Germany demands 10 appearances, 6 stops across England and then 3 each for Denmark and Switzerland. The only days off this time through are travel days as they are playing somewhere every night!
Perhaps the biggest tell of their European success is that they have already been booked back to reappear at the Rother Blues Festival in Germany again in 2006 - the distinction of being the first band booked back consecutively in 10 years. Not too shabby for a little bar band from TO, huh? Shhhh...don't tell Europe! They think that Wild T & The Spirit are much more than that and this band is not disappointing them.
No rest for the wicked once home either as the new year takes them on a cross country tour, hopefully coming to a town near you. Tony and the boys in the band will be glad to see you and hey, you can meet the new guy as drummer Boris Andranov joins Guenther Kappelle (bass) and Robbie Angelow (keyboards) to round out the Spirit lineup.
April finds them, you guessed it, back in Europe on tour again. Don't miss your chance to catch them when they tour across Canada as their time with us here in this country is growing shorter each year.
